Questions
What counts as a primary source?
Material created at the time or by people directly involved: original documents, letters, court and government records, contemporaneous newspaper reports, photographs, and data sets. Books and articles that analyse those are secondary sources.
How many sources does a 10-minute script need?
There is no fixed number. A practical bar is at least one primary source, or two independent reliable secondary sources, for each claim the story depends on.
Can I share or print the checklist?
Yes. Download the PDF or Markdown and use it however you like.
Want a script tool that does this sourcing for you?
StoryScript (in development) collects sources first and links every script line to them. Joining the waitlist is free; the optional $9 deposit reserves a founding spot and is refundable.
